How to Build Muscle with Smoothies That Taste Like Heaven

by Javi

Both men and women want to have better looking bodies. That usually means getting in shape and building some muscle.

Now, this doesn’t mean building bulky, ugly muscles, but simply toning up a bit, and getting the body you truly want.

Smoothies can help you in achieving that while also improving your health, but there are a few ground-rules you have to know about before you start.

The Three Fundamentals of a Muscle Building Smoothie

Instead of giving you a bunch of recipes, I’m going to teach you the concepts so you can create whatever kind of smoothie you wish.

The three sources of food we have are proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. The most important of these is protein, if you want to build muscle.

Let’s have a closer look at how you can use them:

1. Protein. You can get protein by using a whey protein powder, peanut butter, milk, or cottage cheese. I recommend you get a large amount of protein after your workouts to supply your muscles with the necessary nutrients for repair.

2. Carbohydrates. You need carbohydrates after workouts to restore your depleted stores of fuel. Where do you get good carbohydrates? That’s easy. Use fruits. Any fruits will do, but here are a few examples: bananas, mangoes, watermelons, and oranges.

3. Fat. You don’t need a huge amount of fat to build muscle, but what you do need is calories, which is where fat comes in. While protein and carbohydrates only have 4 calories per gram, fat has 9. Throw in an avocado in your smoothie to get a nice addition of calories and healthy fats.

How to Make Your Smoothies Taste Great

In order to give your smoothies that fantastic taste, you’ll need to use a fair amount of your favorite fruits, which are sweet and will make your smoothie taste like candy.

Another great way to add some sweetness to your smoothies is to use natural sweeteners such as raw honey, stevia, and agave nectar.

It’s best to keep your smoothies completely natural, but if you need to turn things up a notch, there’s nothing wrong with using something extra.

Have fun and experiment with your smoothie recipes!

Wrap Up

Remember, to build muscle you need to give your body calories and protein. You don’t have to go overboard, but you do have to eat more than you are used to.

Using a pre- and post-workout smoothie will help you with that. Keep the food you eat as natural as possible, and you will not only build a great body, but have good health as well.
